Four Acre Trust to spend out all funds

Four Acre Trust is embarking on a "spend out" policy that will mean an additional £2.5m/annum will be available to appropriate charities each year for the next 8 years.

happy kidsFour Acre Trust is a grant-making trust created in 1995 by John Bothamley with funds achieved through business interests in the building sector.

John Bothamley said

By spending our capital and concentrating on charities that attempt to prevent problems (rather than curative), we hope to make a much bigger impact than just spending our annual income. Our strapline says it all - "helping people to make the most of their lives" but we can only do that by creating mutually trusting long-term relationships with operating charities. This partnership is essential to optimising the money we are granting."

Grants of between £3,000 and £300,000 will be available within the general scope of helping people make the most of their lives. Applications from charities working with young people are especially welcome and it is expected that a third will be working in the international area.
